Vasseur continues with Ferrari

NEWS STORY
31/07/2025

Ferrari has announced an extended, multiple-year contract, with Fred Vasseur.

The Frenchman joined the Scuderia at the beginning of 2023, bringing with him extensive motorsport experience and a proven ability to develop talent and build competitive teams across all levels of racing. Since then, he has laid a solid foundation with the ambition of returning Ferrari to the top of Formula 1.

Renewing his contract reflects Ferrari's determination to build on the foundations laid so far. His ability to lead under pressure, embrace innovation, and pursue performance aligns fully with Ferrari's values and long-term ambitions.

Under Vasseur's leadership, Ferrari is united, focused, and committed to continuous improvement. The trust placed in him reflects the team's confidence in its strategic direction and reinforces a shared determination to deliver the results that Ferrari's fans, drivers, and team members expect and deserve.

"Today we want to recognize what has been built and commit to what still needs to be achieved," said Benedetto Vigna, Ferrari CEO. "It reflects our trust in Fred's leadership - a trust rooted in shared ambition, mutual expectations and clear responsibility. We move forward with determination and focus, united in our pursuit of the level of performance Ferrari has to aim for."

"I'm grateful for the trust Ferrari continues to place in me," added Vasseur." This renewal is not just a confirmation - it's a challenge to keep progressing, to stay focused, and to deliver. Over the past 30 months, we've laid strong foundations, and now we must build on them with consistency and determination. We know what's expected, and we're all fully committed to meeting those expectations and taking the next step forward together."

"@kenji - Vasseur is right for Ferrari on so many points. I wish he was brought in earlier as he would have harnessed the Vettel/Leclerc team building disaster and I verily believe that Vettel would have won a WDC with Ferrari... In regards to 2025 performance, every team is chasing the incredible McLarens. I believe that they will get there.

Hamilton to Ferrari: I cringed when I first heard it too, I felt like it was the fateful Valentino Rossi to Ducati all over again, an expensive mistake for everyone then and now. Lewis' rude barking on the radio to engineer Riccardo Adami was unlike anything he has ever said or anything we've ever heard, petulant and very unbecoming. My old crew chief would have set me straight behind the trailers if I gave 5% of that lip, everyone is trying so hard... but the pressure is absolutely intense there. Like everyone else, really hope Lewis and the team can find their way.

Carlos Sainz: love him, has proven the ideal teammate, won some great races... but he wasn't going to win a WDC with Ferrari. And they had a chance to sign a 7 time WDC ( and another Fred Vasseur alumni driver) who made great business and marketing sense.

Honestly, if Lewis Hamilton turns absolutely ugly, I would seriously consider giving Alex Albon a chance. Have my doubts but his car control is incredible. Pierre Gasly and Isaac Hadjar are also on my short list all due for a great winning car..."

"@ ffracer...I agree with your analysis. In the absence of black and white issues Vasseur seems to be bringing some semblance of continuity that augurs well for the team. What I find to be an anachronism is the Hamilton acquisition and the subsequent lack of performance. Considering the outlay involved it may well be an offset to the share price but from a competitive level it's a 'no show'. In YTD comparisons Hamilton has an approx 25% deficit to Sainz. This from the GOAT? There are many conclusions that can be drawn from analysis but I do feel that, in the totality of the exercise, it would have been far better to keep Sainz. Jack Doohan only had six races to prove that he was a keeper......."

"So happy, this is great for Ferrari. He has been the only one since Jean Todt to provide a sound but firm voice at the helm, immediately dealing with Leclerc and helping him understand how to be a team player, to drive without the radio button connected to the drive by wire throttle. Hamilton is getting there because of his respect for Vasseur. Both of them have such profound respect for Fred and it helps further stabilize and strethen this great army. Great to see that the smear campaign against Vasseur flared and died in the Italian media. They have been competitive despite many problems but that is racing. Great teams design a great car and win out of the box... or dig deep and get to work together, understand the data and build a great car with the
developments happening at a strong pace. I truly believe that he can get it done without the drama... crucifying drivers or engineers to stave off the mob, as we watched it constantly unfold at RB and Alpine. This is not the way to nurture and run a team. So so happy for Fred, what a true leader at every level before taking the lead at Maranello. "

"Excellent. Vasseur is a good man and Ferrari needs stability not continuous changes. "
