Following the revision to the entry list which saw Brawn GP given the race numbers 20 and 21 and Force India the numbers 18 and 19, the FIA has revised the numbering system yet again.

Essentially, Brawn were given the final numbers (20 and 21) because they are a brand new team, and were not entitled to the numbers that would have been worn by the defunct Honda team.

However, Force India subsequently argued that they couldn't move up to the places vacated by former Honda drivers Button and Barrichello as merchandising with their 20 and 21 numbers had already been manufactured. However, the World Council was adamant that the Brawn drivers, as a new team, should be behind the Force India men.

Consequently, it has been ruled that Force India will revert to the numbers 20 and 21, while Brawn will use 22 and 23. The numbers 18 and 19 will not be used.
