Takuma Sato is to test for Toro Rosso again, as the Italian team, now back under 100 percent control of Red Bull boss Dietrich Mateschitz, looks head to next season.

Sato, who tested for the Faenza outfit at Jerez in September and Barcelona lat month, will be back in action at Jerez on December 10 and 11.

"We obviously see this as a positive step," said a spokesman.

The popular Japanese driver who lost his 2008 ride when Super Aguri ran into financial problems after just four races, is one of several drivers being considered by the Italian outfit. With Sebastien Buemi thought to be a shoe-in for one seat, Sato is up against (2008 incumbent) Sebastien Bourdais for the other. However, with the team admitting that it is looking for drivers with backing, Sato would appear to have the edge.
