Antonelli learning from each experience

The second youngest race winner in the history of F1, Kimi Antonelli insists he is learning from every mistake.

Though starting from pole, many feared another fluffed start from the teenager who got it wrong in Melbourne and again in yesterday's Sprint.

However, speaking at race end today, the youngster insisted that he is learning from his mistakes.

"There's so much that I've learned," he told reporters. "First of all, never relax too much, because, you know, today it went well, because it could have been worse. So always try to stay on point and keep the focus, because today at the end I opened the room for mistakes, and the mistake happened."

The teenager was referring to a lock-up late in the race which cost him several seconds, but which, considering the age of his tyres, could have had much worse consequences.

"I gave myself a little bit of a heart attack towards the end with a flat spot," he admitted. "But it was a good race.

"It was not an easy start and probably I covered a bit too much on the inside and gave too much room to the Ferrari, but at the end the pace was good, and we managed to bring it home.

"I just need to make sure it doesn't happen again," he said of the lock-up. "And then, of course, also, you know, just trying to focus on doing things right, you know, procedure-wise, warm-up, bringing the tyre into the stint, I think, was a massive lesson.

"Also today was very cold and was a good lesson to see, you know, what was the best way to keep the tyres in a good window."

Understandably, in the moments after the race, the youngster was emotional.

"I'm speechless... I'm about to cry to be honest but thank you so much to my team because they helped me to achieve this dream. I'm super happy. I said yesterday I really wanted to bring Italy back on top and we did today.

"I'm looking forward to the rest of the season now. I always focus race by race and then we'll see where we end up at the end of the year."
