Miami Grand Prix: Preview - Cadillac

NEWS STORY
30/04/2026

The Cadillac Formula 1® Team will compete on home soil for the first time this weekend as it travels to the Miami Grand Prix.

The 57-lap event at the Miami International Autodrome is a milestone moment for the American team, which made its debut in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship™ in Melbourne, Australia, in March. The Miami race will be the Cadillac Formula 1® Team's fourth Grand Prix, having been brought to life from the ground up in partnership with TWG Motorsports, the motorsport arm of TWG Global, and General Motors (GM), one of the world's largest automotive manufacturers.

To celebrate the first of three American races in 2026, the team will sport a special livery with the drivers wearing bespoke race suits, both of which feature subtle expressions of Americana woven into the team's now-recognizable dual-tone black-and-white scheme.

"Racing at home for the first time is a major milestone for this team and something we've been looking forward to for a long time," said Dan Towriss, CEO, Cadillac Formula 1® Team Holdings. "There's a lot of pride in representing the United States as the American team, especially in front of our home fans. We understand what that means, and we're focused on showing up and delivering for them."

The American squad will also host a free two-day fan-first activation in the heart of Miami's Design District at Jungle Plaza, the Cadillac Formula 1® Team Headquarters, featuring a curated Cadillac road car lineup that includes a V-Series display, the all-electric ESCALADE IQL, a Blackwing performance sedan, and the flagship CELESTIQ. Racing Simulators will also offer a taste of the precision and refinement that define Cadillac's presence in global motorsport, along with Tommy Hilfiger merchandise, Jim Beam cocktails, and other interactive elements.

"Our first Grand Prix in the United States is a landmark moment for Cadillac and General Motors," added Mark Reuss, GM President. "It will be a special experience for the team to race on home soil in Miami this week, and we look forward to all the excitement on and off the track."

The Cadillac Formula 1® Team will hit the Miami circuit with renewed energy. Since the Japanese Grand Prix five weeks ago, the squad has been sharpening operations with simulations of practice sessions in GM's Charlotte Technical Center and race operations room at Silverstone, pit stop practice and fitness and conditioning training for the pit crew, and a variety of operational improvements to streamline internal workflow.

On track, the team will be moving forward with its pre-established development plan, and will introduce its first major aerodynamic and mechanical upgrade package, which includes updated front wing flaps and end plates, a new floor, new floor boards, and a new rear brake drum.

Graeme Lowdon, Team Principal: "We built strong momentum during the first three rounds of the season. And building on this, we will be introducing multiple upgrades this weekend. While the break in the calendar didn't change our program, it allowed us greater scope to finesse and prepare the successful introduction of the upgrades and further refine our operation. I am looking forward to seeing how the team performs on what is a celebratory weekend for all of us at the Cadillac Formula 1 Team."

The team aims to build upon a strong race in Suzuka, Japan, where it made a notable step forward in speed and reliability. Both drivers, Valtteri Bottas and Checo Perez, exhibited encouraging pace on their way to a second consecutive two-car finish, representing consistent progress throughout the first phase of the season.

Valtteri Bottas: "I'm excited to jump back in the car with there being no better place to do so than on home soil for the team. Being able to represent the Cadillac Formula 1 Team at its first home race is a special moment. I can't wait to get out on track in front of the home crowd and feel the energy they bring. Following our positive start to the season, we want to ensure we continue building on everything we've achieved so far. The team has been working hard to deliver an upgrade for Miami, so I'm excited to see how we get on with the goal to be closer to the midfield."

Checo Perez: "After the race in Japan, I'm fired up to get back on track, particularly after this break. We made some great progress in the first three races and the upgrade we bring to Miami will help us take another step forward. The aim is to close the gap to the teams in front and race for positions. If we can do that, it will build even more momentum and confidence for this busy part of the year. Being part of Cadillac Formula 1 Team is a real pleasure - it's a team that's got great ambitions and a path to realize them."
